As a British kid, I bet you likely read Lord of the Flies in school. Of course, when I was younger, I didn’t really understand it – why were the kids so chaotic? Some things you just can’t do with a full stage performance – there are certain ways that a close-up of a sideways glance, set design and ‘show and don’t tell’ narration can create more palpable tension in film…
