Counting Stars: Space Lates at the National Space Centre

I’ve visited the National Space Centre a few times for a Starry Night Ball and general entry so it was amazing to get the chance to see the centre at night! I made sure to do my make-up all space-like and of course, threw on my space jacket for the occasion! I couldn’t wait to explore!

We arrived at 6-pm and it was very busy, but in the best way – it was such a good atmosphere! We got in really quickly and then headed off to the planetarium to watch a Tour of the Stars. This was a particular highlight for me – the staff were amazing and it eased us into thinking more about the world beyond our tiny beautiful planet!

Some of the extra special things which were not available at the regular opening times included special talks about black holes and deep space; demonstrations showing how radioactive particles act all around us and how infrared cameras work. Plus, we also got to pick up and learn about meteorites and space debris, which was amazing!

Come with us now, on a journey through time and space!

You can take a look at what it’s like to live aboard the International Space Station, find out everything there is to know about planets in our solar system, constellations, alien life and the scales of planets. The most interesting thing I learned about was what we know about black holes and the existence of radio galaxies (which I didn’t even know were a thing! Seriously, look them up! They’re colossal.)

We had a little wander around the regular exhibits – everything looked so much more stunning at night, particularly the rockets. Everything is super interactive there so everything you learn really sticks in your mind! It was a brilliant evening, enjoying the National Space Centre in new ways, filled with new information and exploration – the best way to spend the weekend.

If I hadn’t already been relatively recently (hmm), your blog post would definitely make me want to go! 😀

How fun! Late last year I went to Chicago’s planetarium for the first time and I had a blast.
